The Nevada Arts Council (NAC) established as a state agency in 1967, is located in Carson City and is a division of the Department of Cultural Affairs. NAC serves as the primary agency in Nevada through which state and national funds are used to stimulate and encourage the arts in the state. Sierra Arts Foundation
The arts express the passions and perspectives of the people who live in this community. They encompass what is known as the five disciplines: music, painting, poetry, creative writing, dance, theater and sculpture. Sierra Arts is dedicated to encouraging and enabling this creativity in each of the arts disciplines.
This is what makes us unique in northern Nevada .
Since 1971, we have been the regional arts agency promoting and supporting the arts and artists in our community to make this a better place to live. We provide leadership, support, programming and education. With a 36-member Board of Trustees and many incredible volunteers, our goal is to provide a direction for promoting the arts. The Sierra Arts Center, located at 17 S. Virginia Street in Reno, is home to the organization and a hub for the arts in northern Nevada.

Founded in 1931, the Nevada Museum of Art is the oldest arts organization in Nevada and it remains the only nationally accredited art museum in the state.
